American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Funding for Community Health Centers
In February 2009, President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) in response to the current economic crisis. This stimulus package included $2 billion for community health centers. ARRA has greatly impacted Iowa and Nebraska health centers' ability to increase access to affordable, quality health care services for the uninsured and underserved.
Increased Demand for Services (IDS)
- Iowa: $3,175,923; 84 jobs created/retained; 17,988 additional patients (including 7,836 uninsured patients) will be provided with access to services.
- Nebraska: $1,520,481; 25 jobs created/retained; 9,664 additional patients (including 6,098 uninsured patients) will be provided with access to services.
- New Access Point award for River Hills Community Health Center to establish a satellite clinic in Centerville, Iowa.
Health centers are using CIP funds for a wide-range of construction, renovation, and equipment acquisition purposes.

- Nebraska: $3,337,990
