
Project Director
Mary Martin joined La Clinica de la Esperanza as Clinic Manager and Project Director of the Neighborhood Health Access Initiative when the clinic was expanded in August 2001 through a Robert Wood Johnson Local Initiative Funding Partners grant. Prior to moving to Des Moines, Mary lived in Denver, Colorado where she was a project director in Denver’s Community Health System for five years. Her work involved planning, developing, funding, and managing services to support Maternal Child Health Initiatives. Previous positions include management of child welfare services in non-profit settings in Colorado and Mississippi and six years as an individual, marriage, and family therapist in a community based organization.
Mrs. Martin received a B.A. in English at Louisiana State University, (LSU) in 1972 and an M.S.W. also at LSU, in 1985. She has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1987 and also holds the Association of Certified Social Workers designation through the National Association of Social Workers. She is currently a member of the Board for the Polk County Health Access Partnership.
